Dr. Chih-Kung Lee, Executive President of the Institute for Information Industry (III), pointed out during his inaugural address to the press on May 3 that the industry’s future innovation model will not be limited to traditional research and development (R&D) but will emphasize the openness, human-oriented demands, and communication of the Connect and Develop (C&D) concept. He stressed that scientific and technological development must be able to acquire intimate knowledge of the industry’s requirements, enhance industrial value, and provide a foundation for improving competitiveness.
財團法人資訊工業策進會執行長李世光在5月3日的上任記者會中表示，未來產業界的創新模式不局限於傳統的R&D(研究發展)，而是更強調開放、人本需求與溝通的C&D(連結發展)。他強調，科技的研發要能掌握產業界的需求，提升產業價值，成為競爭力的基礎。
During the press conference, Dr. Lee formally unveiled the new vision of III: Techno-Cultural Synergy, Innovation Unbounded. The institute will endeavor the combination of the power of technological innovation with humanistic viewpoints and concepts, enabling technology to become closer to our daily life and generate value for the industry in terms of systems, software and services, thus allowing R&D work in technology programs to be more focused. He pointed out that with the development from hardware to software, the next phase should incorporate elements of smart living, which he dubbed “Lifeware” (hardware + software + service), and combine technology and other domains in order to meet and serve human needs.
李世光在會上正式提出資策會新願景為「科文共裕，創新開放」(Techno-Cultural Synergy, Innovation Unbounded)，將以人文的角度和概念，結合科技創新的能量，讓科技更貼近生活面的應用，在系統、軟體及服務上都能創造產業的價值，讓科專研發工作更聚焦。他指出，從硬體(Hardware)到軟體(Software)發展下，下階段唯有發展Lifeware (Hardware+Software+Service) 的智慧生活，透過科技與跨領域的結合，才能滿足與服務人類的需求。
Dr. Lee also pointed out that in the future, the organizational innovation of III will focus on enhancing technological capabilities and expanding the scope of technological applications. The new C&D (Connect and Develop) mechanism will replace the traditional R&D (Research and Develop) model, driving Technology Push toward the goal of human-oriented Demand Pull. III has achieved fruitful results in the formulation of standards for advanced perception systems, intelligent connection services, telematics, wireless sensor networks and smart buses. Going forward, the institute will establish innovative mechanisms to keep up with the needs of the industry and to help enterprises improve their R&D capabilities.
