The ideas SIG (Streaming Innovation Group) experts had identified four key conflicts from the discussion about supply side and demand side with respect to mobile device platforms. The one who could provide the solutions for the conflicts will be the next mobile device/service market leader. And the issues will be the material for constituting the topics for the “2011 ideas Talk” debate to be held in late November, 2011. The conflicts are:
針對行動裝置平台供給與需求面議題共同討論的ideas SIG(Streaming Innovation Group)專家群,總結出4項讓行動裝置消費者與供應商看似「勢不兩立」的對立觀點。若能對這些問題想出解決方案,就會是下一個市場先鋒。這些衝突點,也將是11月底《創新發現誌(ideas)》ideas Talk世紀辯論的主題:

Making money vs. Spending money
When using mobile devices, not only do consumers expect to be able to use them for free, they want to be able to make money from them. Actually, they want to make more money the more they use them. This puts consumers in direct opposition to vendors, who want consumers to pay for both mobile devices and related services.
衝突1:消費者想賺錢 vs. 供應商得付出
消費者希望使用行動裝置時不但不必花錢,且用愈多賺愈多;這與供應商希望使用者花錢買裝置和服務的想法完全相反。

Winner takes all vs. Benefit sharing
Smartphones and tablet PCs are posting impressive sales all over the world. However, the Taiwanese OEMs who actually make these devices earn only meager margins, while the branded vendors such as Apple are raking in huge sums of money. The “winner takes all” situation should be eliminated, and then all of the companies in the mobile device and service value chain could share the benefits of mobile devices’ success.
衝突2:贏家全拿 vs. 利益均霑
智慧手機、平板電腦全球熱銷,但台灣廠商只賺到代工的薄利,而Apple等大廠則獨享巨額品牌利潤。這種贏家全拿的現象必須打破,才能讓產業價值鏈上所有廠商得以均霑利益。

Mass production vs. Customization
Besides expecting mobile devices to keep getting slimmer and lighter, consumers also want to be able to change the dimensions of these devices to suit their own individual needs. On the other hand, consumers in different age groups may also have different requirements. However, mobile device vendors feel that the only feasible model is to continue with large-volume, standardized mass production, and then allow consumers to make adjustments to the product or expand its size by adding peripheral items.
衝突3:大量訂製生產 vs. 個人化客製
消費者除了希望行動裝置更輕更薄,甚至能隨時依需求改變尺寸,或讓不同年齡層都能方便使用。但供應商仍認為,可行之道是以現有科技大量生產,再以周邊裝置作調整或擴充。

User habits vs. Comprehensive service provision
Consumers’ usage habits and expectations present a number of serious challenges to vendors’ ability to implement comprehensive service provision, especially on the demand of information security, energy-saving and faster computing speed needs.
衝突4:使用者習慣 vs. 服務完整度
在資訊安全、節電與運算速度等需求上,消費者的使用習性及期盼,對供應商目前所提供的服務完整度,也帶來許多嚴苛挑戰。
