The 2024 East Rift Valley Hakka Rhyme Season Kicks Off with a Bang, First Event on March 31 in Hualien Fuli

In order to balance the tourism development of Hualien County and to promote Hakka culture, County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei has specifically assigned the Hakka Affairs Department to organize the 2024 East Rift Valley Hakka Rhyme Season series of events. One event will be held in each of the six Hakka townships and cities in the county, linking the unique features of the East Rift Valley Hakka villages. This series aims to allow tourists and locals alike to enjoy the diverse and integrated cultural atmosphere of the Hualien Hakka community.Welcoming people from all over the country to come and enjoy the beauty of Hakka culture amidst the bamboo and mountains.

The “Beauty of Hakka Culture Amidst Bamboo and Mountains” event, to be held on March 31, invites the well-known drumming team “JF Taiko Team”, which has gained fame both domestically and internationally; Hakka singer Liu Hui-Qing, who won the Future Group of the 2016 Taoyuan Hakka Pop Music Festival and the Super Battle Group Champion of the 2019 Taoyuan Hakka Pop Music Festival; The Sheng G Band, known for their music that conveys praise and care; the Songpu Elementary School from Yuli Township, with traditional Amis dances and pan flute performances; the Zhutian Folk Song Class and the Yuli Branch of the Hualien County Hakka Association Dance Class, both showcasing the beautiful melodies of Hakka songs. The event presents a rich and exciting lineup that fully displays the diverse and integrated characteristics of the Hakka community in Hualien. In addition, the event will feature booths selling high-quality local agricultural products and Fuli cultural and creative goods, inviting everyone to choose their favorite souvenirs to share with family and friends!

Mr. Pan Chien-Chien, Director-general of the Hakka Affairs Department, said that in order to showcase the beautifully integrated valley jointly nurtured by the various ethnic groups in Hualien, the 2024 East Rift Valley Hakka Rhyme Season series of events, especially the “Beauty of Hakka Culture Amidst Bamboo and Mountains”, has been specially chosen to be held next to the Luoshan Exhibition and Sales Center of the Fuli Township Farmers' Association in conjunction with the 2024 Bamboo Expo and World Bamboo Forum. This will provide an opportunity for tourists and locals to admire the magnificent Hakka culture of Hualien! Under the leadership of County Mayor Hsu Chen-Wei, the Hualien County Government has taken the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations as its main policy direction, implementing net-zero carbon emission initiatives and integrating sustainability concepts into the event. This initiative aims to continuously nurture the seeds of sustainability in Hualien's slow and sophisticated daily life, creating an international, intelligent, friendly, and sustainable tourist city. In addition, this series of events incorporates this year's Hualien city brand positioning,“Hualien Hertz,” which showcases Hualien as a “multi-frequency city” with diversity in its culture, urban landscape, geography, and ecology. Hualien's political focus is to “inspire exploration worth staying for”, making Hualien suitable for everyone to find their “right frequency”; Hualien's diversity is ideal for everyone in the world to find an environment for soul healing and self-reflection.
