加拿大藝術家Michael Clayton《墨西哥篇擴展版》｜凱昇藝術中心個展引發觀眾熱烈響應

加拿大藝術家Michael Clayton《墨西哥篇擴展版》藝術展覽，今年4月13日在台中市凱昇藝術中心舉行剪綵儀式隆重開幕，這是墨西哥傳統與台灣好客精神的完美融合。多位貴賓蒞臨觀禮來自不同文化背景的藝術家、贊助商和愛好者齊聚一堂，見證了Michael Clayton個展的揭幕，並對於Michael畫作的神秘美感表達讚嘆。

被問到個展海報中的畫作意涵，Michael Clayton說明了展覽海報中畫作的重要性，指出它們包含太陽、魚和蛇等各種符號。在墨西哥文化中，這些符號代表生活的各個方面；例如，太陽象徵生命本身，而蛇則可能代表邪惡，還有其他含義。他還提到，展覽中的其他畫作也同樣融入了許多符號。

在墨西哥大使Martin Torres的致詞中，他特別強調了Michael Clayton被視為“墨西哥的榮譽兒子”的地位。他說：“Michael Clayton是我們墨西哥的驕傲。雖然不是墨西哥本地人，但他深受我們的墨西哥文化影響，已經成為我們心中的一員。”

Opening Ceremony: Canadian Artist Showcases Mexican-Inspired Works at Taichung City Gallery

Taichung City, Taiwan – April 15, 2024 – The Kaiser Foundation Gallery in Taichung City welcomed a grand opening, a perfect fusion of Mexican tradition and Taiwanese hospitality. Artists, sponsors, and enthusiasts from diverse cultural backgrounds gathered to witness the unveiling of Michael Clayton’s solo exhibition.

In the ambassador’s address, he particularly emphasized Michael Clayton’s status as an “honorary son of Mexico.” He said, “Michael Clayton is our pride in Mexico. Although not a native Mexican, he has been deeply influenced by our Mexican culture and has become one of us in our hearts.”

The ambassador also mentioned the profound inspiration Michael received during his time in Mexico, as well as his respect and spirit of exploration towards ancient civilizations reflected in his artwork. He emphasized, “Michael’s works are not only art but also a cultural journey. Through his prints, he showcases the essence of the Mayan, Aztec, and Olmec cultures, revealing the charm and wisdom of ancient civilizations to the audience.”

In concluding his speech, the ambassador expressed appreciation for Michael’s creations and anticipation for his future artistic endeavors. He stated, “I believe Michael’s works will continue to shine on the international art stage, adding vibrant colors to the cultural exchange between Mexico and Taiwan.”

The ambassador’s words received enthusiastic applause from the audience, marking the beginning of the exhibition and ushering in a visual feast full of artistic and cultural collisions.

Additionally, a special thanks to the food providers, 502 Antigua Guatemalan restaurant for creating latin inspired appetizers which were enjoyed by all the guests and contributed to the event’s success.

凱昇基金會董事長王木仁表示，凱昇藝術中心於2020年11月成立，為鼓勵藝術創作風氣及扶植新創，免費提供展場空間，供藝術家創作發表之平台與機會，並致力於協助地方文化團體及藝術人才蓬勃發展，推廣多元化的展覽內容與藝文活動，讓創作者在實現夢想的同時也能無後顧之憂，亦持續推動當代文化內涵，支持台灣藝術領域發展。

◎展覽將於2024年4月10日至4月24日持續舉行，開放時間為週二至週日10:00-18:00時。展覽地點位於臺中市西區五廊街70號，週一公休。邁克爾·克萊頓的《墨西哥篇擴展版》展覽將是一場跨越文化和歷史的視覺饗宴，帶領民眾深入探索古文明的奧秘。
